500 N. Clark St.
Who eats: Business types, well-dressed ladies who lunch.
Why eat: Your guests will be impressed. Carrie Nahabedian is one of the best chefs in town.
Ambience: White tablecloth elegance. Windows on south, west sides let in lots of light. Clean, uncluttered, contemporary look.
Service: Friendly and very professional. Not a misstep to be seen.
Cellphone reception/Wi-Fi. Good reception. Free Wi-Fi available (ask host for password).
Dress code: Business casual for the most part; you can be pretty dressed up here without feeling conspicuous.
Noise factor: It gets loud when full, but on a slow day (my visit) I could barely hear conversations two tables away.
Reservations: Not always needed, but a good idea
Expect to pay: $90 for two
Menu: Contemporary American, with a fondness for Mediterranean and Middle Eastern ingredients. Some game; superb seafood.
Reliable options: The Naha BLT ($16), with pork belly, watercress and olive-poached tomatoes, is so good it might derail your business conversation. Southern-fried chicken salad ($18) is a menu staple, for good reason. The Angus burger ($20 with cheese) is pricey, but there might not be a better burger in the city.
