Bastille Day brunch, Cake Monkey pop-up, Ham Independence lunch, Taste of Summer

Bastille Day Brunch: In celebration of Bastille Day, the French independence holiday, Church & State Bistro is offering a La Jour de la Bastille brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on July 14. The traditional French menu includes oysters, foie de volaille with toasted baguette, lamb merguez sandwiches, brochette de poulet, ratatouille, and mousse au chocolat. An “Epic-curean” Extravaganza: The third annual Los Angeles Food and Wine Festival will take place from Aug. 22 to 25. Grand Avenue between 1st and 2nd streets will be closed for cooking demonstrations by Giada De Laurentiis, “Iron Chef” Morimoto, Duff Goldman, Rick Bayless, Curtis Stone and many more. There will also be tastings of champagne, caviar, bacon, bourbon and more. Additional events, such as themed lunches and seminars, will be held throughout the city. Tickets are available here.

“Pop Goes the Monkey”: Cake Monkey Bakery will host a pop-up store between June 28 and 30 at Graffiti Sublime Coffee. Cake Monkey will serve many of their favorite items that aren’t carried at other shops, such as their mini layer cakes, full cakes served by the slice, monkey bread, cake pudding, cakewiches, snowballs, and pop pies. 180 S La Brea Ave., Los Angeles.

“Life, Liberty, and the Prosciutto of Happiness”: On June 27 at noon, Chef David LeFevre at the Manhattan Beach Post will serve a four-course lunch to celebrate Ham Independence Week. The lunch will feature La Quercia’s cured meats and Templeton Rye whiskey with Pancetta Mozzarella Buttermilk Biscuits, chopped salad, grilled tuna wrapped in speck americano with white bean puree, hen of the wood mushrooms, peperoncini, and red grape relish, and butter pecan softserve with candied pecans and caramel for $45 per person. Annenberg’s “Taste of Summer”: The Annenberg Community Beach House is hosting the second annual Taste of Summer food, wine, and beer event on July 13 from 7 to 11 p.m. Only a few feet from the beach, there will be world-renowned chefs, music, a silent auction and tastings for $150. All of the proceeds will benefit the Fulfillment Fund, a nonprofit that works with disadvantaged students to make their college dreams a reality. 415 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica.
