  • i tried the chocolate cake and buttercream frosting recipes. The frosting was like eating butter. Possibly the recipe was missing ingredients? Or just not to my taste. I ended up adding about 4 cups of powdered sugar. After that it was heavenly. But lots of work! Good thing, I'm sure they're a million calories each.

  • For the best cupcakes in Texas, go to CAKE by Distinctive Details in Lubbock. We went in to purchase 2 cupcakes and went away with 12 of the most wonderful tasting sweet things I have ever eaten! The red velvet was amazing, but the velvet Elvis was out of this world. If you live in Lubbock, head to Kingsgate Center for CAKE cupcakes.

  • To Cupcake lover from Australia -- you probably don't want to omit the corn syrup (essentially Lyle's Golden Syrup), since it is beneficial to the consistency. Corn syrup used at home is not the high-fructose corn syrup you may be thinking of. A stick of butter is 1/4 pound, or 4 oz., so about 115-120 grams. American butter comes in 4 sticks to the pound, although the shape of the stick will vary by geographic region!
