AMBIENCE Smart American grill and bar from L.A.'s best known chef center stage at L.A. Live with a view onto the plaza, a veranda with outdoor tables, and inside, a communal table and casual bar. The food from team Puck is familiar fare with a twist or two. The crowd? As diverse as it gets in L.A.
PRICE Appetizers, $12 to $17; pasta, $18 to $22; pizza, $14 to $18; main courses, $20 to $28; steaks and chops, $18 to $42; desserts, $10.
BEST DISHES Spicy tuna tartare, crispy fried calamari, red endive and Fuji apple salad, wild mushroom and Tallegio pizza, hand-rolled garganelli with wild mushrooms, ravioli quattro formaggi, mussels and fries, calf's liver with pancetta, prime sirloin burger, Kobe flat iron steak with shishito peppers, doughnut pops, strawberry shortcake, 50/50 sundae.
WINE LIST Top-notch, divided into old world and new world, with interesting choices in each. Corkage fee, $20.
BEST TABLE One along the front windows.
DETAILS Open 5 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. Full bar. Valet and lot parking in East Garage at Olympic and Francisco, $5 for first 90 minutes, $5 for each half-hour thereafter to maximum of $20. Valet is the same, plus a $5 service charge. The restaurant offers a $5 validation.
