Books on the bright side of life

Consumers looking for books on achieving happiness will find no shortage of titles on store shelves.

We’re seeing more books on happiness because the market hasn’t been satiated on the subject, and because the documentation behind happiness is so much better,” says Margot Schupf, associate publisher for Collins Publishing Group in New York. “Authors are beginning to report real science and aren’t just talking about a warm, fuzzy feeling.”

Here are some of the happiness books that have hit shelves in recent months.

* “What Happy Women Know” by Dan Baker

* “Happiness: Unlocking the Mysteries of Psychological Wealth” by Ed Diener and Robert Biswas-Diener (due out Sept. 16, according to Amazon.com)

* “The Happiness Trap: How to Stop Struggling and Start Living” by Russ Harris

* “The How of Happiness: A Scientific Approach to Getting the Life You Want” by Sonja Lyubomirsky

* “Happiness for Two” by Alexandra Stoddard

* “Happiness Is an Inside Job: Practicing for a Joyful Life” by Sylvia Boorstein
