Stop whining poor people, just accept the "good things" in life while we send your poor children who cant afford education to wars.

There's a positive spin to everything.

Yes, less seafood and more big macs and fries. Great theory Einstein! Cheap beer and vodka too means meaner harder hangovers. My theory, less money, more risky behavior and foods.

I recently bought a mountain bike to save on gasoline. I've been nearly killed three times in the past two weeks by wreckless drivers in cars and one truck door that oponed right in front of me. I don't have a job to drive to since I run my own startup but I ride my bike to get around. I'm driving my car no more than 1 day a week now instead of every day. I've never seen the economy this bad in my life. When winter comes and it rains I will take the bus.

It does for me since I've taken to biking 40 miles per day for my commute. In addition, I don't eat out nearly as much as I used to. I imagine not a lot of people have the oppportunity to commute as I do. However, I know of several people who can't seem to give up driving their SUVs 5 miles or less to work. Overall, I would think the increased stress level of the population as a whole more than offsets any physical benefits the few of us have.

Only thing i can think of that bad economy improve health is that some people would desire to ride a bike instead of driving, however most of us can't do that, since the commute is long and many road ain't friendly with car, and bike accident is much higher than car and more fatal. Bad economy will result better problem, first because of high food, gas, less change of pay increase etc.. will resutl of picking like fastfood instead of format restaurant to eat to cut cost, which will increase obesity rate.

A bad economy is bad for people. Even fewer people will have health care. Trying to spin it with a silver lining is a very Marie Antoinette exercise.

A bad economy = CRIME

The data need to be stratified by class. What the article says is that those out of a job, or those who are poorer eat and drink less. The rich, who are not out of a job continue to get their investment incomes and really never have to worry about the economy. If being poor was better for your health I guarantee that the rich would move to the inner city.
