Modwalls glass tiles

The new White Type and Black Type glass tiles from Modwalls are the design of San Francisco artist Rex Ray. Using publications with typographical punch (W magazine was a favorite), Ray created collages whose stark patterns were kiln-fired to the backs of the tiles, shown here with another new Rex Ray tile design called Orange Mod. The effect might be a little ransom-note-ish for some, but I did like the graphic power of the tiles when viewed from afar and the way Type can introduce a bit of chaos to places (bathroom walls, for example) often ruled by relentless uniformity.
