Wright is cool, but so's the Getty
RE “Out of the Shadows” [April 17] about architect Barbara Bestor's new house across the street from the landmark Ennis House: I have loved Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture and especially the Ennis House, which I toured with my children many years ago. It has saddened me to see the disrepair and apparent lack of funding to save it.
However, I was taken aback by Bestor's comment, "I'd much rather look at that every morning than the Getty Center."
I have the absolute joy of working there, and every day I am in awe of the beauty not only within the Getty Center but the views and vistas we are privileged to enjoy around us.
I am happy for Bestor and her ability to build such a beautiful home for entertaining and that "houses and parties like this are a good endorsement" for her being in Los Angeles. Maybe she needs to take a moment and remember that many of us here love Los Angeles for the total experience of this wonderful city.
