THE California Design Biennial opens Saturday evening in Pasadena, celebrating innovative furniture, graphics, fashion and other consumer products designed in this state during the last two years. Among the highlights: The Los Angeles studio NONdesigns’ Topo table, which sports a Corian tabletop fitted with molded plastic elements that can be concave or convex, creating a miniature landscape of hills and valleys. In the kitchen, Topo could sprout herbs and wheat grass; as a desk, it could hold paper clips or elevate an important stack of papers. The table and the other featured designs of the biennial will be on view through Sept. 30 at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. Admission is $6. The opening reception Saturday runs from 8 to 10 p.m.; admission is $5. 490 E. Union St.; (626) 568-3665; www.pmcaonline.org. For more information on Topo, www.nondesigns.com.
