Patricia Urquiola's carpets update traditional Sardinian motifs
With the popularity of Greek flokatis, Berber tribal graphics from Morocco and other ethnic rugs, it's hardly surprising that Patricia Urquiola has launched her first carpet collection.
The Spanish-born designer has teamed with the Italian firm Moroso to update traditional Sardinian animal and floral motifs with a contemporary punch. Hand-woven on Old World looms, the patterns are available in two color combinations in naturally dyed wool. The carpets measure 6 1/2 feet by nearly 10 feet and sell for $9,527 through Jules Seltzer Associates, 8833 Beverly Blvd., L.A. (310) 274-7243 or www.julesseltzer.com.
