Streamlined for Disney

Share

Kem Weber (1889-1963), one architect of the Streamline Moderne style, was responsible for designing much of Walt Disney’s Burbank animation studios in the 1930s.

“Weber rounded the corners on buildings and furniture, as if they were built in a wind tunnel,” says Peter Loughrey of Los Angeles Modern Auctions. The firm is offering three Disney pieces that Weber designed, including this animator’s desk with an illuminated glass work surface. Previews run 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Saturday; auction is noon Sunday. Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Ave., Suite B229, West Hollywood; https://www.lamodern.com .
