Vintage Eames rocker from Herman Miller
Sure, youve heard of EBay and Craigslist, but what about V&M or Fyndes? The market has seen a proliferation of websites selling secondhand home furnishings. Heres a peek at some of the best:
EBay Currently listed: Vintage Eames rocker manufactured by Herman Miller with translucent shell on walnut grain feet. Price: $650, offers accepted. The scoop: The mother of all resale sites has its pluses and minuses. Inventory is huge (a plus, but for some a minus), and not all sellers offer accurate descriptions (a definite minus -- a recent search for Eames produced nearly 5,000 results, few of which were actually designs by Charles and Ray Eames). Buying at auction can also be a money-saving plus, but even with automatic bidding, the process can be less than enjoyable. |
