Virtual play room for cats
In the virtual play room of the Los Angeles Best Friends Pet Adoption and Spay/Neuter Center, a camera can pan and zoom around the room, letting anyone with an Internet connection follow cats’ reactions to remote-controlled toys. (Brian van der Brug / Los Angeles Times)
Cynthia Dvorsky, a volunteer at the the Los Angeles Best Friends Pet Adoption and Spay/Neuter Center, plays with one of the cats waiting for a permanent home. The virtual play room, a spokesman said, not only will boost adoption rates but also allow “virtual volunteerism” as anyone with an Internet connection can play with the cats.
