According to Wednesday's press announcement, the eponymous designer has known members of the band since her nightclubbing days in '70s Stockholm, where she and ABBA's Anni-Frid Lyngstad “often did some disco moves together."
"Anni-Frid, Benny, Björn and Agneta and I stayed in touch off and on over the years. When I was asked to design an exclusive collection for Abba the Museum, it felt like a playful challenge to interpret some of the songs my way."I chose some titles and gave them another meaning than maybe Björn Ulvaeus thought when he wrote the lyrics."
The three pieces include a silver "Knowing Me, Knowing You" pendant necklace (with the words "Knowing Me" on one side and "Knowing You" on the other), a silver charm bracelet that manages to make a handful of song references (a charm in the shape of a dollar sign for "Money, Money, Money" for example, and a king's crown charm symbolizing "The Winner Takes It All") and a silver and leather cord bracelet emblazoned with the song title "Take a Chance on Me."
Although the ABBA Collection is only being sold through the museum itself (and its e-commerce site has yet to launch), U.S.-based ABBA-philes can avail themselves of pieces from the same designer's "Dancing Queen" collection of rings, pendant necklaces and earrings ($205 to $410) both online and at Attling's bricks-and-mortar New York City boutique at 36 Little West 12th St.
Which sounds like the perfect place to accessorize for ABBA fans who happen to be in the Big Apple to see "Mamma Mia!" on Broadway.
