Chrysler, Carhartt clothing to debut at L.A. Auto Show

Two Michigan-based brands, Chrysler and Carhartt, have partnered on a limited-edition workwear apparel collection that’s set to debut Wednesday at the 2012 L.A. Auto Show.

We’re told the nine-piece collection of men’s and women’s T-shirts and jackets, knit caps, rugged coats and denim is inspired by the city of Detroit itself, which, as near as we can tell from the accompanying photograph, means a range of familiar Carhartt silhouettes (including its logo T-shirts and dungaree-fit denim) rendered in basic black -- hardware and all -- and the assurance that the collection is 100% made-in-America.

(In addition, some of the limited-edition pieces are individually hand-numbered from 1 to 200.)

The Imported From Detroit collection will be available at retail prices ranging from $20 (for a knit skull cap) to $175 (the heavier outerwear pieces) starting Wednesday through Carhartt’s website as well as its bricks-and-mortar Sullivan Center store at 18 Wabash Ave. in Chicago.
