Looking at the 2013 CMT Music Awards red carpet Wednesday, I was struck by how eclectic the stars and attendees are at country events. I mean, there were Taylor Swift, Kristen Bell and Nicole Kidman in flirty short dresses, Carrie Underwood in turquoise shorts, Kellie Pickler in a long, fluid, bedazzled halter gown and Larry the Cable Guy looking like Larry the Cable Guy in his usual jeans, sleeveless T-shirt and cap. But the outfit that really got my attention was Sheryl Crow’s white gown, with cutouts around the rib cage and a strapless sweetheart top so low cut I couldn’t help but wonder how much sticky tape was required to hold it up. Or were there some invisible straps involved? (Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood ended up as the night’s big winners.) [People]

Speaking of Kristen Bell, who hosted the awards, she seemed to have quickly regained a sleek figure after giving birth to a daughter in late March, wearing a dress that cinched her small waist. But the baby was on her mind during the show. She tweeted pictures from backstage of a breast pump. [People]

Random drug testing required of elite athletes got really random for Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn. The New York Post reports that Vonn was attending the CFDA annual awards Monday night, sitting with designer Cynthia Rowley and clad in a custom-made Rowley gown when her cellphone rang and she was told agents were standing by outside Alice Tully Hall, ready to take the urine samples they needed for random testing. She reportedly met agents at the bathroom and complied. [New York Post]

We haven’t heard much from Pippa Middleton lately. But we’re about to. She’s signed on as a contributing editor at Vanity Fair, where editor Graydon Carter says she’ll write a regular column about “traditional English pursuits.” First up: a personal guide to Wimbledon. [Vanity Fair]
