Paris Fashion Week 2013: At Rochas, retro sportif

PARIS -- Rochas designer Marco Zanini showed his spring-summer 2013 collection in a salon at the Grand Palais on Wednesday afternoon with a soundtrack of Beach Boys tunes conjuring images of the halcyon days of summer in the 1960s.

The look: Retro sportif. Country club starlets. Polos and crew neck sweaters worn with quilted white shorts or miniskirts. Full skirts paired with boxy, midriff baring button downs in icy pastels or bold floral print taffeta. Knit bra tops and sheer knife pleat skirts. Modish white sneaker booties.

The verdict: Sweetly nostalgic at times, but ultimately unfocused.
