To promote an upcoming book launch, teen blogger, fashion darling and budding multi-hyphenate Tavi Gevinson has recorded an acoustic version of the Pet Shop Boys' 1998 U.K. Billboard No. 1 hit "Heart."
Gevinson's version of the song, which can be heard here, was posted online in advance of the Feb. 1 release of "Cadaver: A Bittersweet Love Story," the book version of a seven-minute animated short film by Jonah Ansell that stars the voices of "Back to the Future" actor Christopher Lloyd, Academy Award winner Kathy Bates and the Style Rookie blogger.
Gevinson's rendition of the song is included with the purchase of the 112-page book (synopsis: "A cadaver wakes up to say a last goodbye to his wife, but discovers a truth in death he didn’t know in life.") along with her cover of Neil Young’s "Heart of Gold," and a digital version of the short film (available online to the public for the first time -- and for just a few weeks we're told -- it can be watched, in its entirety, at the top of this post).
"Cadaver: A Bittersweet Love Story," written by Jonah Ansell, illustrated by Carina Simmons, Eric Vennemeyer and Abraham Dieckman, ($19.95, Academy Chicago Publishers) is available for pre-order on amazon.com
