Beauty gifts that shine

From Swarovski-laden hair pins to glittery nail lacquer, there’s no shortage of glitz for the holidays.

The season’s offerings include hand-foiled, 24-karat gold eyelashes by Los Angeles-based Kr¿-¿t Beauty and Christian Dior’s 24-karat gold leaf “temporary skin jewels,” an upscale take on the temporary tattoo in the form of bracelets, rings and charms designed by Camille Miceli, the brand’s creative director for accessories.

A swipe of Mai Couture’s shimmery highlighter papier in St. Barts adds glow on the go to cheekbones, shoulders or décolletage.

Inspired by the Aurora Borealis, the Yves Saint Laurent Beauté holiday collection is all about luminosity. YSL’s La Laque Couture Top Coat No. 33 Première Neige is designed to layer over any color of nail lacquer for festive, frosted sparkle, while the Effet Faux Cils Longwear Cream Eyeliner in No. 7 Gold Star can be applied along the lash line “like a golden strand,” according to Lloyd Simmonds, creative director of makeup. “You can also apply it as a point of light on the inner corners of the eyes or as a gold lamé shadow, all over the eyelids, for a glowing effect.”

For the crowning glory: an ethereal brass headband with intertwining wings by Jennifer Behr -- fit for the goddess on your gift list.

Just remember: All that glitters isn’t necessarily good. No one can (or should) outshine the tree. Go for either dazzling eye makeup or a pearly complexion, for shimmery makeup or a sequined dress. One Midas touch is all you need.
