Ode to My Book

By Sabrina, 10

A little bundle of adventures sitting on my desk, telling me about royalty, heroes and shipwrecks. Every single day and night, its covers worn and old, waiting for someone to read these stories, waiting for them to be told. I read and read, on and on, never taking a rest, giving this book all my attention, giving it my best.

I read of explorers discovering new lands, and I read of kind fairies giving people a hand. I also read of scientists inventing new devices, and don’t forget detectives, who solve crisis after crisis. At last, after many hours, I’ve finally read it all, from tiny miniature creatures, to giants standing tall. So I turn off my lamp and close my eyes, taking a peaceful nap in bed. But my bundle of adventures isn’t tired yet, indeed. It is still waiting for someone – someone who likes to read.

Treehouse

Once upon a time, I wanted to build a treehouse with my friend, Sam. First we had to get a permit from the governor of my house. After the governor reviewed our application she permitted us to proceed. Sam objected to my suggestion of using wood. He suggested metal that could withstand water. We finally decided to use metal for the outside and cover the inside with smooth wood. What should we put inside? I recommended a cooler in case we got thirsty. Sam thought of putting in a computer. We put both in. We began our treehouse in March and finished it in August. It was perfect!!!!!
