POWER OF FLOWERS BLOSSOMS THIS SPRING

Share

Liberty’s floral and paisley prints are blooming everywhere this season.

Kate Moss featured the London department store’s fabric in her Topshop collection (at topshop.com), and Nike did a limited-edition women’s Dunk that sold out quickly in March at its Hollywood pop-up shop.

On Monday, the art nouveau designs, which were huge back when flower children roamed the Earth, land in A.P.C., which is introducing a capsule collection of dresses, tunics and bags.

The A.P.C.-Liberty collaboration is ready for summer in Los Angeles, with crochet ($280) or spaghetti-strap dresses and comfy tunics (both $220). The accessories are sweet, with prices that aren’t sky-high -- $70 pouches (remember those?), $200 duffels and totes for $220.

Jean Touitou, founder of the Paris-based A.P.C., label, says he first saw Liberty’s fabrics in the late 1960s and acknowledges that the “beautiful” prints are a departure for A.P.C.’s denim-rooted basics. But, he adds, “I’m not sure there’s such a thing called A.P.C. aesthetic; if there was, life would be boring.”
