Resurrection vintage clothing store has ‘anti-fashion’ sale

Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

Now that architectural fashion is making a comeback for fall, Resurrection -- the bicoastal vintage boutique owned by designer Katy Rodriguez and partner Mark Haddawy -- is teaming up with luxury auctioneer Christie’s to clear out pieces by Courrèges, Cardin, Versace and more. Can’t make it to London for the Oct. 30 sale? Fret not. Through Oct. 17, Resurrection’s L.A. outpost will feature a massive selection of conceptual, 1990s looks from Comme des Garçons, Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake and Undercover.

The privately sourced 400-piece collection kicks off a series of in-store “anti-fashion” sales through February 2009 that will include Martin Margiela and Ann Demeulemeester.

The Japanese names currently in stock may be known for being edgy and abstract -- in other words, hard to wear -- but there are simpler pieces for sale too, especially from Comme des Garçons, whose asymmetrical knit coat and cream, rosette-adorned shawl are both great choices for cooler weather.

Of course, shopping Resurrection’s local racks isn’t the same as being in London. But anything’s better than going through customs.
