Brownie worship

There's a new temptation in town, and this pre-Valentine season is no time to resist. Baker Lilly LaBonge is a former producer of TV commercials and music videos. Now, with her company Sweets for the Soul, she makes brownies. Especially enticing are her Brownie Points, rich, creamy rounds made with Valrhona cocoa and chocolate chips. The Brownie Bliss squares are packed with toasted pecans from farms in Texas and Georgia.

In spring, LaBonge plans to open a store in Atwater Village. Until then, her brownies are available by order.

Brownie Points, $36 for a box of 24; Brownie Bliss squares, $36 a dozen at sweetsforthesoul.com or (323) 668-9338. Order by Feb. 1 for delivery by Valentine's Day.
