Westside sushi: Owners eat

March 27, 2008

OWNERS EAT

On the off chance that Providence co-owner Donato Poto is not keeping the kitchen and dining room marching toward perfection at his French seafood joint, he's probably eating sushi on the Westside. "I have a lovely wife and two beautiful kids, so I don't have time to check out other restaurants." And more than anything, his two boys, 10-year-old Nicholas and 16-year-old Lorenzo, love sushi. Often the family will eat lunch at Hide Sushi, where they go early to avoid the line. For an upscale bite, it's Mori Sushi down the street. Poto (pictured) knows chef Morihiro Onodera and his wife, who make all the restaurant's china themselves. Poto never orders from the menu; instead enjoying whatever Onodera creates. Providence, 5955 Melrose Ave., L.A., (323) 460-4170; Hide Sushi, 2040 Sawtelle Blvd., L.A., (310) 477-7242; Mori Sushi, 11500 W. Pico Blvd., L.A., (310) 479-3939
