Angel City Brewery throws a snow day party

Share

While the weather has been a bit manic in Los Angeles lately, on Friday you can count on snow in the Arts District when Angel City Brewery throws its first Snow Day Party.

The National Weather Service is predicting highs in the mid-70s on Friday, but from 2 to 10 p.m. snow will be the star of the show as the brewery’s parking lot will be filled with trucked-in powder. In addition to beer specials in the tasting room, guests can snack from a fleet of food trucks including Chili Philosopher, Dogtown Dogs and Sweet E’s Bake Shop, and warm up with a hot toddy from Greenbar Distillery (made with Greenbar’s own bourbon and Angel City IPA).

Angel City’s Vanilla Porter, with its balance of malt flavors and floral vanilla bean essence, is a great brew to sip while enjoying the snow. Even more appropriate may be the White Nite “golden stout,” which has all the roasty and nutty tastes you’d expect in a inky-black stout, even though it’s golden blond. Your tongue won’t believe your eyes, and it’s the perfect pint to pair with the cognitive dissonance of snow in downtown L.A.

Inside the tasting room there’ll be a simulated fireplace, board games and some snow-day movie screenings. Live music begins at 6 p.m. with four acts scheduled: the Blue Bird Bandits, Del Champion, Kaygle$ and the Anti-Job.

Admission is free.
