Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, Feast of San Gennaro, Mr. C outdoor movies

The Cookies for Kids’ Cancer charity bake sale will take place Sunday at The Grove from 1 to 4 p.m. Brownie Brittle founder Sheila G. Mains and actress Jaime King will host the event, part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Ian Opina from Church Key, Roger Eggleston of Cavatina at Sunset Marquis, Jashmine Corpuz from Redbird/Vibiana, Mariah Swan from BLD, Ralph Johnson from The Pikey, Wolfgang Puck Catering, Stella Bara, The Ivy and more each have donated cookies for the event. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. Brownie Brittle has promised to match funds up to $10,000. The 13th Annual Galbani Cheese Italian Feast of San Gennaro will take place Sept. 26-28 in Hollywood. The event celebrates Italian culture with food, music, a free kid’s corner and petting zoo, pony rides, bocce, carnival rides, games and more. Surprise celebrity guests will join a cooking team to demonstrate Italian recipes on the Galbani Cheese La Cucina Italiana cooking stage. There will be Italian sausage and peppers, meatballs, sangria and more. The festivities will take place Sept. 26 from 5 p.m. to midnight, Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sept. 28 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. General admission is $5 and free for kids 12 and younger. 1651 N. The Mr. C Hotel is hosting two outdoor movie experiences and a wine dinner in September. The summer poolside cinema series will take place Tuesday and Sept. 23. The evenings start at 8:30 p.m. and include Peroni Nastro Azzurro on tap, homemade tomato and basil popcorn, and plush lounge seating with fireplaces and blankets. Also on Wednesday, The Restaurant at Mr. C celebrates the Napa Valley winery Darioush with a special five-course wine dinner. Darioush wines will be paired with Italian Cipriani dishes while winery founder Darioush Khaledi talks about wine. Dinner starts at 7:30 p.m. and is $175 per person, excluding tax and gratuity.
