First look: Little Door in Santa Monica to open Sept. 15

Share

A location of the Beverly Grove restaurant the Little Door is slated to open Sept. 15 in Santa Monica. The restaurant replaces the former Chez Mimi and Villetta space on 26th Street.

The new location, like the original, aims to capture the spirit of the south of France with terraces and dimly lighted dining rooms. And outside, wrought iron gates open into a courtyard with plenty of outdoor seating.

“We had so many friends and guests requesting that we open on the Westside and we always thought Chez Mimi / Villetta would be a perfect home for the Little Door,” said co-partner Nicolas Meschin.

“It’s rare to find such a space that has the look and feel of the [original] Little Door ... as this new location perfectly embodies,” said co-partner Frederic Meschin.

Executive chef T. Nicolas Peter is helming the kitchen with dishes from the original, such as the couscous royale, as well as some new items, including a Kobe prime tenderloin carpaccio.

Other menu items include the duck liver and port wine mousse, an assortment of cheeses and charcuterie, farro risotto with baby artichokes, grilled marinated octopus and more.

To drink, there’s a full list of signature cocktails, including the four-pepper smoke made with smoked peppers, blue agave, Gran Classico bitter and La Puritita Mezcal, and the seasonal rhubarb made with Reyka vodka, orange rhubarb and lemon juice.

There’s also a selection of wine, beer and plenty of bubbly.

The Little Door Santa Monica will be open daily from 5:30 p.m.

246 26th St., Santa Monica, www.thelittledoor.com.
