Gauchos Village reopens, Ray Garcia leaves Fig, Dog Haus to open in Burbank

Gauchos Village, the Brazilian churrascaria in Glendale has relocated to a space on Maryland Avenue. The new location features the churrasco (grilled meat) with live entertainment on the weekends, and a couple new additions to the menu, including pizza. The pizza calabreza comes topped with cheese, tomatoes and Polish and Brazilian sausage. There’s also a new lounge with craft beers on tap and an expanded wine list. 135 N. Yousef Ghalaini has taken over as head chef at Fig Restaurant, succeeding Ray Garcia. Ghalaini most recently worked at the Bench at the Lodge at Pebble Beach in Monterey County, where he opened the restaurant two years ago. He also opened Steak 954 at the W Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Imperial No. Nine at the Mondrian SoHo in New York. Dog Haus, the sausage-centric restaurant with locations in Pasadena and Alhambra, is opening four new franchise restaurants this fall. The new locations include one in West Covina (now open at 3817 E. Garvey Ave.), a location in Santa Ana (2800 N. Main St.), another in Burbank (3817 W. Olive Ave.) and one in Thousand Oaks (50 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.). Specific opening dates for Burbank, Thousand Oaks and Santa Ana are not yet available. Dog Haus is also working on opening locations in La Verne, Fontana and Azusa. www.doghaus.com.
