Hotel Bel-Air kids cooking classes, Superba dinner, Grab the Pots pop-up brunch

The Hotel Bel-Air is offering kids cooking classes with the hotel’s executive chef Hugo Bolanos and pastry chef Jen Shen. Children 4 and older can sign up for an hourlong interactive introduction to cooking. Themes include making pasta, pizza ice cream, cupcakes and shortcake. Each kid will take home a chef’s hat, apron and recipes for the dishes they prepared. Classes are $75 per child and available by reservation only for groups of two to eight children. Two parents or guardians maximum must accompany groups of four or more children. There is no charge for the adults. Classes must be booked at least 48 hours in advance. Superba Snack Bar is celebrating its two-year anniversary with a special prix-fixe dinner Aug. 4. Chefs from fellow American Gonzo Food Corp. restaurants East Borough and Superba Food & Bread will also each create a course. The six-course menu will include house charcuterie and cheese; oxtail wonton pho; cod in crosta with chorizo, fingerlings, peppers and pimento aioli; heritage pork belly with chanterelle tortellini; Heart coffee affogato; and dessert with peach, plum, verbena and green tea. Dinner is $75 per person plus $55 for optional beverage pairings. All proceeds will be donated to Meals on Wheels. Chef Nigel Henderson, founder of the NOLA Truck, is hosting a series of Grab the Pots! Sunday brunch pop-ups at Lock & Key Bar in Koreatown. Brunches will take place Sunday, Aug. 3, 10, 17, 4 and 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Southern comfort-themed, prix-fixe brunch menu is $20 per person, including bottomless mimosas. Citi Group members can purchase a private pass that includes six plates to share, two specialty coffees, two custom cocktails and bottomless mimosas for $55.
