José Andrés for Umami burger, crawfish boil at Dominick’s, oyster festival

The Bazaar’s José Andrés has created a special burger for Umami Burger as part of the Umami Restaurant Group’s “Artist Series.” The José Andrés Burger is made with a ground pork and prosciutto patty, piquillo pepper confit, caramelized onion and Manchego cheese. The burger is priced at $15, and $1 will be donated to the World Central Kitchen humanitarian organization that works toward smart solutions to hunger and poverty. Andrés also created a tapas menu with patatas bravas made with crispy potatoes, spicy bravas sauce and garlic aioli; date and cured ham pintxos with pitted medjool dates wrapped with thin slices of cured ham in umami sherry vinaigrette; and green olive pintxos with olives, anchovies and piquillo pepper confit. Dominick’s will have a crawfish boil May 17 and May 24. Chef Brandon Boudet, a New Orleans native, will cook up crawfish by the pound, roast beef po’boys, soft-shell crab po’boys, grilled alligator meatballs and crawfish boiled artichokes. The Central Coast Oyster and Music Festival will take place June 7 from noon to 8 p.m. at the Avila Beach Golf Course Resort in San Luis Obispo. Ten chefs will compete in a Best Oyster of Central Coast competition, and festival guests can buy tickets to taste all 10 recipes and vote for their favorites. There will also be food from more than 30 local vendors, a full line-up of musical guests, art and more. General admission tickets for adults are $20 and $10 for children. Adult admission tickets purchased at the door will be $25. Tasting tickets for the competition are $10. VIP Butlerz Service tickets are available for $400 for two people and include general admission, a butler for the day, food and drink service, a blanket and chairs, preferred seating, a bottle of wine, six beers, two tasting tickets and festival souvenirs.
