Glazed Donut Bistro in West Hollywood has introduced two new doughnut flavors to the menu, including mac-and-cheese beignets and donut French toast. The mac-and-cheese beignets are made with the restaurant’s New Orleans beignets filled with housemade mac and cheese ($7). Each order comes with a side of cheese dipping sauce. The donut French toast features the classic yeast-raised doughnuts dipped in cinnamon and nutmeg custard. They’re topped with whipped cream and berries and served with organic maple syrup ($5). 8807 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, 310-360-0221, www.glazedla.com.Gracias Madre will have a tequila pairing dinner with David Ravandi, founder of Tequila 123, on May 20. The dinner will feature four courses: local Manzanilla olives and oven roasted pumpkin seeds paired with 123 organic tequila blanco; farm lettuce with chipotle vinaigrette paired with 123 organic tequila reposado; rolled sweet-potato-stuffed tacos with cashew nut cheese paired with 123 organic tequila anejo; and a gluten-free brownie with salted caramel sauce, coconut bacon and mezcal whipped cream paired with 123 organic extra anejo. Mohawk Bend is hosting an Authors Worth Celebrating series featuring a different author each month whose philosophy on food is similar to that of the restaurant. An event May 20 will celebrate Laurie David and Kirstin Uhrenholdt, who just released their second cookbook, “The Family Cooks,” a guide to nutritious family meals. David also produced “Fed Up,” a documentary on childhood obesity. A seated dinner will take place at 6:30 p.m. with a meet-and-greet before dinner. A Q&A with David and Uhrenholdt will take place between each course and after the meal. Executive chef Erick Simmons created a menu inspired by recipes from the guests’ cookbook, including quinoa cakes, chopped salad, balsamic chicken and almond cake. Optional craft cocktails and craft beer pairings will be available for an additional cost. Tickets are $30 per person. Email authors@mohawk.la for reservations. 2141 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, (213) 483-2337, www.mohawk.la.
