Want to #hackthemenu? McDonald’s secret menu really does exist, unofficially?

Does a McDonald’s secret menu really exist? According to one store manager from Glasgow, Scotland, you betcha. If you’ve been waiting to order rumored secret items such as the “McGangBang,” “Land, Sea and Air” burger, the “McCrepe” or the “Pie McFlurry,” now’s your chance to give it a try.

The anonymous McDonald’s manager, who writes that he’s been an employee of McDonald’s for more than three years, did an “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) on the social networking site Reddit, wrestling with such fundamental fast-food dilemmas as, well, how healthy is McDonald’s really?

According to the manager’s responses, “The items marketed as ‘healthy options’ are worse than you’d think.”

But back to that secret menu. Is it real?

“You can order from the ‘Secret Menu,’ ” the manager writes. “Just like with any of our sandwiches, you can add, remove or change ingredients by special request. These are called ‘grill orders’ (i.e. Big Mac, no pickle).”

The website #hackthemenu gives a list of 20 “secret menu” options available at the Golden Arches. The “McGangBang” is apparently a McChicken sandwich inside of a McDouble and the “McCrepe” is a hotcake filled with yogurt parfait. Have your favorite pie blended into a McFlurry for a “Pie McFlurry.” And the “Land, Sea and Air” burger? A towering combination of a Big Mac, Filet-O Fish and a McChicken, all in one.

The manager went on to write that the “secret menu” items are not official inventions of McDonald’s, but are ways to “hack” the regular offerings.

“Order one and the workers might not know it by name (i.e. “Land, Sea and Air” burger or the “McGangBang”), but if you explain what it is, and are willing to pay for all the ingredients, it’s just another ‘grill order’ that we can make up.”

According to the #hackthemenu website, “The creators of the McDonald’s secret menu are those that dared to dream. Those who thought, ‘hey, I can make this better’. And that’s exactly what they did.”
