National Doughnut Day: Free boozy doughnuts at STK, Krispy Kreme, more specials

Friday is National Doughnut Day, otherwise known as this week’s excuse to skip your morning cereal and splurge on your favorite doughnut. And if you’re feeling generous, maybe even buy a box for your coworkers. Just keep a few extras for yourself.

Here are some places around town with doughnut specials and a couple freebies.

STK has created what it’s calling a Drunkin Donut. It’s a donut filled with raspberry Chambord jelly, topped with rum glaze. The Los Angeles STK will be giving away complimentary Drunkin Donuts Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. 755 N La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles, (310) 659-3535, www.stkhouse.com/.

Dunkin Donuts is giving away a free doughnut with the purchase of a beverage Friday. The promotion is happening at participating locations while supplies last. www.dunkindonuts.com.

Krispy Kreme is giving away free doughnuts all day, at all of its locations Friday. Customers can choose any doughnut for the promotion. https://www.krispykreme.com/.

Plan Check Kitchen + Bar is offering special doughnuts at both Fairfax and Sawtelle locations Friday. The Fairfax location will have a maple bacon cruller with pig candy and maple glaze ($6) and the Sawtelle location will serve strawberries n’ cream crullers topped with whipped cream and seasonal fruit ($6). 1800 Sawtelle Blvd, Los Angeles, and 351 N. BLD is offering some special creations by pastry chef Mariah Swan and bourbon. Doughnut flavors include a rocky road doughnut with salted caramel glaze, toasted almonds, cinnamon marshmallows and chocolate sauce paired with Elija Craig 12 year bourbon, a spiced orange caramel doughnut with cinnamon and ginger spiced orange caramel and a braised farmers market cherry paired with basil Hayden’s bourbon and more. Individual doughnuts are $3 or $6 when paired with bourbon. You can order a flight of three doughnuts for $9 or $18 with bourbon and a flight of all five doughnuts for $15 or $24 with bourbon.
