Salt’s Cure Cookout, Taste of Mexico, Abbot Kinney Fest

On Thursday, Sept. 25, Salt’s Cure will be celebrating L.A. Beer Week at Verdugo Bar with a patio cookout, part of a monthly partnership between the West Hollywood restaurant and the Eagle Rock bar. Pulled pork sandwiches, housemade hot links and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches will be served. To pair with the food, a selection of craft beers from this month’s beer partner, New Belgium Brewing. Both the Salt’s Cure menu and craft beers from Verdugo’s 22 taps can be enjoyed on the outdoor patio. The Taste of Mexico Food Festival, an annual celebration of Los Angeles’ Mexican culinary scene, is returning to L.A. Plaza downtown on Sept. 27. The Farmer’s Market Picnic takes place from noon to 4 p.m. Highlights include tastings, a michelada beer garden with Montejo and Guelaguetza’s Miche Mobile, cocktail bar, fruit carts and live entertainment by cumbia DJ collective Dinamita. Dinner and Agave Night, from 7 to 11 p.m., includes tastings, a tequila tent, mezcaleria installation by Ilegal Mezcal, michelada beer garden and live entertainment by A Poco No!. Restaurants for the two events include La Monarca Bakery, Frida, Guelaguetza, El Coraloense, Mariscos Jalisco, MexiKosher, Coni’Seafood, Compañia de Cafe and many more. Farmer’s Market Picnic tickets are $35. Dinner and Agave Night tickets are $55. A limited quantity of VIP All Day Passes for both events is available for $75. The 30th annual Abbot Kinney Festival takes place on Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. At this year’s event: food trucks and booths (including Baby’s Badass Burgers, Cousins Maine Lobster, Kogi BBQ, Philly King, Superba Food + Bread and more), beer and spirit gardens, craft vendors, games, live music and a pop-up shrimp boil by Salt Air chef Greg Daniels. The event is free. Early Bird Fast Pass tickets (skip the lines with a dedicated pickup station and dedicated bartender at any beer and spirit garden) are $35 and are available online at www.purplepass.com/abbotkinneyfestival. Proceeds go to community grants for local nonprofits.
