Red Wings Visit West Michigan

Nick Lidstrom, Tomas Holmstrom and Patrick Eaves made a stop at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Thursday morning, taking time to sign autographs and snap a pic or two with some of America's heroes.

"Seeing the smiles on their faces is great," said Lidstrom. "Hopefully we can bring some joy and happiness to them because it's more of an honor for us to come and meet them."

At Churchill Elementary School in Muskegon Drew Miller and Churchill Elementary alum Justin Abdelkader participated in a question and answer session with the kiddos. The Red Wings took time to say hello to some of their biggest...and littlest fans.

Aside from the whole "getting paid to play hockey thing" they say this is one of the best perks of the job.

"It's extra special for me of course since I went to Churchill," said Abdelkader. "But it's exciting for me also to see the kids in their Red Wings gear. That gets us excited for the season."
