Royal Pains: Kansas City Tops Detroit 7-3

Jason Kendall had three hits and three RBIs helping Bruce Chen and the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 7-3 on Friday night.

Scott Podsednik went 2 for 3 and scored three times for the Royals. David DeJesus drove in two runs. Kansas City finished with 13 hits.

Brennan Boesch accounted for all the Tigers runs. Boesch hit a 413-foot 3-run home run in the sixth off former Tiger reliever Kyle Farnsworth.

Chen (2-0) gave up two runs and four hits in five-plus innings to earn his first win as a starter since Aug. 6. Chen, subbing for injured right-hander Gil Meche, made his second start after 10 relief appearances.
