Two people were arrested after an assault involving a weapon in Newaygo County on Friday evening.
At 8:15 p.m. Friday, troopers from the Michigan State Police Hart Post and Newaygo County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of an assault where a weapon was used in the 3000 block of Eighth Street in Sherman Township.
Upon officers' arrival at the scene, one person surrendered voluntarily to the Newaygo County Sheriff's Department Emergency Response Team and was arrested for felonious assault while another person was arrested on an unrelated warrant.
There were no injuries to either of the two suspects or police.
MSP and the Newaygo County Sheriff's Department were assisted at the scene by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Fremont Police Department and the Hesperia Police Department.
The incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police. Upon completion, the results will be turned over to the Newaygo County Prosecutor's Office.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
