A downtown concert series, showcasing some of the biggest names in music will return, with a few changes.

FOX 17 has learned Rock the Rapids is coming back for an encore performance, with a few changes.

Today the event's founder and coordinator presented some new ideas to the Grand Rapids City Commission.

For year two, the organizers want to reserve more daytime parking and move the entire event back a week, so it doesn't conflict with exams going on at Western Michigan University and Cooley Law School.

Organizers say, they hoping to make it bigger and better while getting more of the community involved.

“If we support this community with a good lineup, I’m confident we will have a much stronger attendance this year,” festival founder Dennis Baxter told FOX 17.

Rock the Rapids is scheduled for August 20 this year.

A line up has not been confirmed but organizers are trying to outdo last year's line-up which included Willie Nelson, Ludacris, Stone Temple Pilots, and Alice Cooper.
