Stryker Corporation announced Wednesday that after nearly a decade of service, CEO Stephen P. MacMillan has resigned.

The Kalamazoo based corporation specializes in medical technology, including reconstructive, medical, surgical and neurotechnology products.

Citing family reasons, MacMillan stepped down immediately after 9 years on the job. Curt Hartman, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, has been named Interim CEO. The board has begun a search for a permanent CEO, according to a statement issued Wednesday.

Hartman has been with Stryker since 1990, and served as Vice President since 2009.
