Lions Sign Veteran Jonathon Scott

Johnny Culbreath

The Lions signed offensive tackle Jonathon Scott on Tuesday to a one-year deal welcoming him back to the Lions organization.

Scott is a veteran player who was drafted by the Lions in the first round in 2006. In 2008 he was cut by the Lions and landed in Buffalo for two season. The last two seasons he has played for the Steelers and started 14 games.

In order to make room for Scott on the 90-man roster before training camp starts Johnny Culbreath has been released.

Culbreath was drafted by the Lions in 2011 but has been plagued by issues since. An undisclosed illness sidelined him last year and his arrest in January for possession of marijuana made him less desirable to the Lions.

The Lions training camp practice begins on Friday.
