Fresh flowers bloom all over as spring approaches, and nowhere is that more evident than at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. Over 30 million brilliant blossoms are on display at the 7 week-long celebration of Disney's horticultural wonders, from intricate topiaries depicting the most-loved Disney characters to award-winning roses displayed in the finest arrangements. Also highlighting the festival is the Disney Flower Power Concert Series, featuring performances from some of the most beloved artists of the 1960s and 70s.
Disney's gardeners and horticulture experts tend to the entire Disney Resort Area's flowers, trees and shrubs 12 months out of the year, keeping the park invitingly green for visitors. The Flower and Garden Festival is Disney's thank-you, a celebration of the astonishing skill shown by these hard working people. Disney's experts, along with special guests from the world of gardening, lead demonstrations and seminars meant to help amateur gardeners learn the tricks of the trade. Where else could you get inside tips on growing tastier herbs and veggies or find out where Walt Disney World's largest tree resides?
In addition to the enlightening demonstrations, there are plenty of interactive activities to engage and amuse visitors both young and old. A fragrance garden on display in the France pavilion will highlight the many flowers used as ingredients in popular perfumes, while a WaterFULL World Garden will teach onlookers about the importance of conservation through displays featuring plant species native to Florida. Meanwhile, kids can spend all day trying to find their way out of the giant Alice In Wonderland Maze, located in the heart of Future World.
Every evening will be capped off with a performance from the Flower Power Concert Series live on stage at the America Gardens Theatre. Past performers have included Davy Jones, Eddie Money, Paul Revere & The Raiders and other stars of 60s and 70s.
Disney is planning on making this year's festival extra special, as it coincides with the kickoff of The Happiest Celebration on Earth, Disney's 18-month bash celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of Disneyland in California. As part of the celebration, this year's Flower and Garden Festival will once again feature signature theme weekends with special activities for visitors, including a very special Mother's Day extravaganza.
Entrance to the Flower and Garden Festival is included with regular admission to Epcot. For more information please call (407) W-DISNEY.
