In an effort to improve voter turnout, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Secretary of the State Denise Merrill in January proposed legislation that would allow people to register to vote and then vote that same day. Connecticut would be following the lead of at least a handful of other states: Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
