By the time my parents were able to get to Canaan to bring me home, I had stayed an extra three days. The property was full of water and mud. We could not go home to Hartford via Route 44 - Winsted and nearby towns were flooded. We would take a route for a while, then backtrack where the road was impassible. In the end, it took us six hours to get home, viewing great devastation along the way.
Years later when I returned to the camp as a counselor during my college years, the water mark beneath my window was still visible.
