The flooding stretched from Alpha Pizza down past the stadium on Bernie O'Rourke Drive. Buildings in that area were submerged 8 to 10 feet under water. I remember watching people going up and down the street in rowboats!
It was particularly exciting because there were businesses in this area that we frequented, in particular a little market known as Carlson's.
It was quite an adventure for an 8-year-old.
L.A. for less than the price of sunblock.
