BAHGAT SAID: "It's just still an unbelievable feeling, an accomplishment that, my senior year, I feel like I did it for the program. We got Cheshire on the map. We're considered a great team now. My senior year, leading the team to the title – that feels great." … "Cheshire is just an unbelievable school for sports. Adding a volleyball banner to the wall, people will take note. People will now want to try out and come play."
BAVONE SAID: "He's really been the backbone of this team for the past four years. He's been dedicated since his freshman year, through the off-season, doing everything, so for him to be able to walk away with a title – it really is that full circle. He's the first four-year guy that we've had who has done everything we asked, and it's culminated in a state championship."
UP NEXT: Will be attending Quinnipiac in the fall, studying pre-med. Would like to eventually become a doctor, dentist or pharmacist. "[My father Sam] really inspired me to get involved in medicine."
IN 10 YEARS: Would like to have wrapped up medical school and, should he choose to become a doctor, would like to be making progress toward having his own practice.
MISCELLANEOUS: Is considering playing for Quinnipiac's club volleyball team. The Bobcats do not have a varsity team. … Plans to play in several beach and grass volleyball tournaments this summer and will stay active in Cheshire volleyball by serving as an assistant coach for the girls' team in the fall. … Enjoys studying the sciences in school, especially biology. "I consider it a challenge learning all that stuff and trying to apply it to something new." … Member of the National Honor Society. … Played basketball at Cheshire through his junior year. … Sisters Dena and Nora played volleyball at Cheshire, with Dena serving as an assistant coach for the boys' team this past season. … Was the sports editor of The Rampage, Cheshire's student newspaper. … Is active in several community service projects, including Relay For Life … Plays the piano and the violin.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
