Glastonbury's Walker A Little, Big All-American

CLASS: Senior

POSITION: Midfielder

COACH: Kris Cofiell

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: After back-to-back losses in the semifinals the last two seasons, she helped lead Glastonbury (15-5) to the first state championship appearance in program history. The Tomahawks came up short to Greenwich, 12-10, in the Division L final. … A tri-captain, she played all 20 games with 28 goals and 24 assists. Averaged 1.4 goals per game and 2.6 points per game. … Scored three or more goals in a game five times. … Had eight goals and one assist during Glastonbury's tournament run to the championship. … A U.S. Lacrosse High School All American and All-CCC North selection. … Four year letter-winner and three-year starter.

WALKER SAID: "I just try to play the game like I know how to play it and practicing and working hard has always paid off for me. Stats are not on my priority list. I don't even know how many goals I had this year. I think being a leader on the team is just as important. Ever since we made to the semifinals as sophomores we wanted to make it the finals, so [this season] had been in the works for a while. … My size [5 feet 2] has always been a thing; people have always said she is so small. But all the coaches I have talked to always said 'you've always made yourself big.'"

COFIELL SAID: "She goes out there and she definitely wants you to know she is on the field but not because she wants to show anyone up but because that is her job. She makes her presence known. She is one of those kids you never worry about her. I never worry that Morgan isn't working as hard as she can or she isn't doing everything she can. … You call a time out and she comes in and you can just see the fire and excitement in her eyes. She never looks complacent. She never looks comfortable. She always looks like she wants more."

UP NEXT: Will attend UMass and play lacrosse. Doesn't have a major but is planning pre-med studies.

IN 10 YEARS: Hopes to have a job — possibly as as a physician's assistant. "It could all change to tomorrow you never know."

MISCELLANEOUS: Was part of Glastonbury's All American indoor track 1,600 sprint medley team with Katie Connelly, McKenzie Hollenbaugh and Lindsay Crevoiserat. Ran the second leg to help the Tomahawks finish in fifth place with a time of 4 minutes, 09.01 seconds. … Ran four years of indoor track and played on the junior varsity soccer team as a freshman and sophomore. … Grew up playing hockey but gave up the sport her sophomore year (Glastonbury doesn't have a varsity team). Played with the Connecticut Northern Lights. … Played club lacrosse for CTLF. … Was part of Key Club, Habitat for Humanity and Art Club while at Glastonbury. … Brother Ryan played on Glastonbury's hockey team. … Father David played lacrosse at Springfield. … Regularly travels to Block Island on her family boat. … Doesn't leave home without her camera — a Nikon D80.
