"The Addams Family" didn't exactly take Broadway by storm when it opened last year. Though Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth gave the $16 million show (which Hartford's Bushnell was an investing partner) some box office oomph when it opened, audeinces declined after the stars left the show earlier this year.
The Broadway production will close at the end of this year. Brooke Shields and Roger Rees head the New York replacement cast.
The national tour which just opened in New Orleans has had a makeover addressing some of those points that critics took exception to: like the plot and the songs.
According to Playbill.com, the tour features a new central plot conflict as well as some new songs, orchestrations and dances.
The sexual tango in the second act -- after a visitor to the Addams manse has a romantic encounter with a giant squid -- is out.
The touring show will play the Bushnell Feb. 21 to 26.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
