Alan Cumming (Broadway's "Cabaret," films "X2: X-Men United," "Spy Kids", and TV's "The Good Wife") will present Tony Award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth the Goodspeed Award for Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theater at Goodspeed Musical's annual gala.

The fund raising event, which supports the theater's education programs, will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 at The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station, 55 Bride Road in Haddam, across the river from the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam.

Chenoweth will have a recurring role on "The Good Wife" next season. She was hospitalized earlier this month after she was hit on the head by a piece of set equipment earlier on the set while filming an episode of the pop[ular TV series. She has recovered and will be at the gala, says a Goodspeed spokesman.

Master of ceremonies will be composer Andrew Lippa (Broadway's "The Addams Family," off-Broadway's "The Wild Party") who was assistant musical director at Goodspeed years ago. His musical "jon and jen" played Goodspeed's Norma Terris Theatre in Chester.

Kirsten Wyatt, who played Gooch in Goodspeed's recent revival of "Mame" will perform a tribute to Chenoweth. Wyatt was understudy for Chenoweth when she starred in "Wicked."

Chenoweth was in the 1995 production of "Strike Up the Band" at Goodspeed Opera House.

Also honored at the gala is the Hoffman Auto Group, longtime sponsors for the theater.
