Bated Breath's new piece is inspired by one of the signature paintings in the exhibition, "Jane Avril Leaving the Moulin Rouge by famous French post-impressionist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864 - 1901).
"We're going to drop the audience in to the exciting world of turn-of-the-century Paris, starting first in a museum and then moving to the Moulin Rouge. The beautiful halls and marble staircases of the Wadsworth are a perfect set for a play about artists, their critics, their lovers and their world," said Bated Breath Artistic Director, Mara Lieberman.
"Medieval to Monet: French Paintings in the Wadsworth Atheneum" exhibition runs until Jan. 27, but Bated Breath will be performing for two nights only.
The performances are part of the Wadsworth Atheneum's First Thursday program ($5 general admission; free for museum members).
