The Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, part of the Yale University Library, is one of the largest buildings in the world devoted entirely to rare books and manuscripts. Built in 1963, the contemporary cube is made of translucent Vermont marble panels, seen in background. In the foreground is an extremely rare original Gutenberg Bible dating from approximately 1455, considered the first book to be printed on moveable type.
